Kennedy Garatt was the first to be named the Paducah Bank Teen of the Week by the Paducah Sun for the 2021-2022 school year. This award is given to high school seniors in the Paducah area to recognize their accomplishments throughout their high school career. Garatt now has the chance to be named Teen of the Year and be awarded a $5,000 scholarship or an Inspiration Award and receive a $1,000 scholarship. 

This accomplishment tops her extensive list of impressive honors including being awarded the KHSAA Academic All State First Team award and the PTHS varsity soccer 110% award. She has also been named an AP Scholar and a Centre College Fellow. Garatt also shows her love for PT while being involved in the soccer team, PT Page Turners, the archery team, NHS, concert band and pep band. 

Garatt is also incredibly involved in the community and plans to continue this involvement in her future college community. “Colleges have a lot more opportunities to be involved because you’re there physically and you can see the difference,” she noted. She shows her passion for conservation and the environment in her choice to major in biology at Berea College. Garatt plans to take advantage of the college’s biology and work study program.
