Local Places Serving Thanksgiving Meals This Holiday

Ashlyn Story

With Thanksgiving being this week, many fortunate souls are making plans to gather with their families around the dinner table to celebrate all they are grateful for, and fill their bellies too, of course. Unfortunately, not everyone has this luxury to have food and company in their own homes or those of loved ones, but everyone is deserving of a warm meal this holiday. If you or anyone you know may be looking for a Thanksgiving meal, or just company this season, here are four local places serving up meals and comfort.

Big Ed’s, a locally owned restaurant, is holding their Fifth Annual Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner at the Julian Carroll Convention Center, 415 Park St., from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on this Thursday, Nov. 25. You must be present to be served and all are welcome!

Another locally owned restaurant, Bob’s Drive-In, is handing out free meals under their pavilion on 2429 Bridge St. Everyone is welcome, and all dinners will be packaged in to-go containers. This is taking place from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, as well.

The Community Kitchen is also open for Thanksgiving this year. They are serving free meals on Thursday, Nov. 25 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. The Community Kitchen is located on 1237 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., and all are welcome.

Another very well know place, Martha’s Vineyard, is carrying on their long-term tradition of 32 years by serving free Thanksgiving meals this holiday. Meals will be served this Thursday, Nov. 25, from 11 p.m. – 2 p.m. at Martha’s Vineyard Mission, located at 1100 N 12th St. Delivery will be offered as well. All are welcome to come fill their bellies and spend time together.
