Student Council Hosting First Blood Drive Since the COVID-19 Pandemic

The Paducah Tilghman Student Council will be hosting a blood drive for the American Red Cross on Friday, Dec. 10. This will be the first blood drive sponsored by the student council since March 2020 when the Coronavirus Pandemic started. The blood drive will take place from 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the Paducah Tilghman wrestling facility located behind the school next to the football stadium. This blood drive is open to both Paducah Tilghman students and parents.

It is imperative that students get involved with this wonderful opportunity to help others. To sign up, students must be at least 16 years of age and those under the age of 18 must have a signed consent form from a parent or guardian. To sign up, students can find the student council members during their lunch located on the stage in the cafeteria.

Once paperwork has been turned in, students will then be placed on the donor list. On Dec. 10, students will be pulled from class by a student council member and escorted to the wrestling facility where the American Red Cross will be set up to take the blood donations. Once students are finished donating, they will be escorted back to class by a student council member.

It is important, now more than ever, that we get involved and donate blood. Student council sponsor Mrs. Angela Shannon said, “The blood supply worldwide is at a record all-time low. Particularly in our area they are in desperate need of blood.”

Not only will the blood donations help the community and those in need, but scholarships will be available based on the amount of blood donated. Get involved this holiday season and donate blood to help your community in need.
