2021 Winter Fashion Trends
December 10, 2021
This winter the fashion trends are a perfect likeness to what fashion looked like in the 90s. The clothes we all wear today were originally made popular by our parents. This resemblance of fashion started to be seen as the popularity of thrift shopping rose. But regardless of how these trends made their comeback, here is what you need to have in your closet this winter
Plaid Flannels– Flannels are making their comeback this year among men and women. You will often see girls wear an oversized flannel over a cropped tee or a simple shirt. Lots of boys will pair their flannels with a neutral hoodie or sweatshirt. Flannels with a fuzzy, insulated inside are also becoming more popular. These will keep you warm while still allowing for a cute outfit.
Doc Martins– You can’t throw a rock into the air without hitting someone who owns a pair of Docs nowadays. The most popular style is the smooth leather lace up boot, but the lace-less Chelsea boot is starting to become more popular. There is an enormous range of colors and styles to choose from. You can also get almost any style with a platform on it, which you will see lots of this winter. Doc Martins look great with long baggy jeans, but they can go with just about anything which makes them a great staple shoe for any winter outfit.
Beanies– Beanies used to be commonly worn to cover up a bad hair day, but now they are used to complete a winter outfit. You can find beanies in almost any clothing store, but one of the most popular brands of beanies that you will often see is Carhartt. There is an infinite number of colorways, but a simple neutral beanie can be used to add to any winter look. They are a very genderfluid accessory, as you see them worn by both men and women.
Turtlenecks– Turtlenecks used to be a style that you would see your grandparents wear, but now our generation wears them to fit the trends. Turtlenecks can be a standalone outfit choice, or you can stack a t-shirt or sweater overtop. Turtlenecks are often worn with a necklace or chain to upgrade the outfit and make it less plain. Turtlenecks are a basic necesity for the winter to keep you warm and boost your fashion game.
Oversized clothes– Just like they did in the 90s, everyone is wearing oversized clothes, such as sweaters, crewnecks and jeans. Wearing oversized clothes not only completes a trendy outfit, but it also allows for layering so that you can stay warm. You can stack a t-shirt under a crewneck, or a flannel overtop of it. You can throw on a pair of leggings under your baggy mom jeans on an especially cold night. You can also pair a turtleneck with a cute baggy sweater for a classic winter look. The options are endless.
