NBA Trade Deadline

NBA Trade Deadline

Coy Booker

Thursday, Feb. 10 marked the NBA trade deadline. After 3 p.m., many teams were left alone while others were flipped upside down. With moves made by 76ers, Mavericks, Bucks, Clippers and Celtics, among others, the league saw some jaw-dropping trades on Thursday. With the most influential trade of all was Brooklyn Nets’ James Harden (shooting guard) being sent to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Ben Simmons (point guard/power forward) Seth Curry (shooting guard) and Andre Drummond (center).

Harden had expressed months prior to the deadline, his hope to be traded from the Nets. Meanwhile, Ben Simmons hasn’t played one game this season due to his lack of cooperation with 76ers front office. This trade is great for both teams, as Brooklyn grants Harden his wish while acquiring another all-star level point guard in Ben Simmons. Philadelphia receives James Harden, a veteran all-star and one of the top performing shooting guards in the league.

As the NBA All Star break approaches, teams will begin to settle in for the rest of the season, looking forward to playoffs. Until then, the 2022 NBA Championship is anyone’s game!
