Gloree Nell Wood, Paducah Tilghman Senior, has been selected as this week’s Paducah Bank Teen of the Week.

Wood has expressed immense gratitude and leadership at her time at Tilghman. She is extremely passionate in the music department, as her voice is known to turn heads. Her passion aids her to successful progress throughout her high school career. She is truly an amazing representation of the talent that resides in our school.

“From a very young age, people would always find me singing to myself or quietly humming to entertain myself, it’s always been something I’ve enjoyed,” she said. Wood is known for exceeding expectations with a voice that wows us all.

“In the sixth grade, I began studying with my current voice teacher, Dr. Bradley Almquist. He pushed me to grow my voice and explore different parts of singing. With his help, I have grown to love music more and more, so much that I would like to pursue a career in Music Performance,” Gloree said.

Through her experiences, Wood became sure of her future which led her to amazing opportunities. Recently, she was featured in Paducah Tilghman High Schools “Into the Woods” performance playing the role of Cinderella. She is also known for never not making it into All State Choir, impressing her judges with flying colors.

“I plan to major in either vocal performance or musical theatre,” Wood says. In regard to musical performance, Wood hopes to make it to Broadway or even perform in the Metropolitan Opera when she is older.

Throughout each school year, The Paducah Sun recognizes 32 seniors as Teen of the Week. This provides them the opportunity to be a part of a scholarship program which is sponsored by Paducah Bank. As these selected seniors prepare to graduate, these stories highlight their best attributes as well as feature their hard work.
