Book for Hope Hosts Dancing for Gold®
March 15, 2022
Book for Hope is a local non-profit charity organization that raises money and awareness for childhood cancer, the second leading cause of death of children in the United States. Their board of directors and officers help to financially assist families in Western Kentucky and Southern Illinois with a child enduring cancer treatment, as well as support childhood cancer research. The wonderful, determined people at Book for Hope believe it is time everyone become aware of the difference between pediatric and adult cancer, and that children’s cancer research should receive more funding from the Federal Government. This organization hosts different fundraising events throughout the year that have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for families and cancer research.
On March 12, Book for Hope hosted their second annual Dancing for Gold® event and surpassed their fundraising goal of $150,000, raising $174,326, all dedicated to helping fund childhood cancer research and families affected by childhood cancer. This was a fun night full of donations and dancing, made possible by the participation of local people and students, many of which being from Paducah Tilghman. Recently, students were given the opportunity to apply for the position as a Book for Hope ambassador, volunteering to dedicate their time to this organization and their mission. Several of these student ambassadors volunteered at the Dancing for Gold® event on March 11 and 12.
The night of fundraising was overall a tremendous success and Book for Hope directors and ambassadors, as well as people of the community, are proud and excited for the third annual Dancing for Gold® event next year. In the meantime, stay on the lookout for other upcoming Book for Hope fundraising events, it is a great cause to support in your community.
