Lady Tornado Softball off to a Good Start

The Lady Tornado softball season got underway just under a month ago at home on March 14 against Mayfield. In this game, the Lady Tornado got the close 5-4 win to set their season off on the right foot. This season, the Lady Tornado are 7-5, placing them in sixth for the region and in prime position to contend for titles as we move closer to post season. The Lady Tornado also have wins over Fulton County, Trigg County, Carlisle County, Crittenden County and Greenup County. The Lady Tornado were able to travel to a tournament over spring break for the first time since the onset of Covid and the cancellation of their season in the spring of 2020. They attended the Cal Ripken experience in Pigeon Forge, Tn. Here, they split two games losing to Harrison County by two and beating Greenup County by 6 later that day.

The Lady Tornado pose a very balanced attack offensively with three players tied at 14 hits apiece, senior Rosie Minter, junior Trinity Parrish, and freshmen Audreya White. Junior Trinity Parrish also leads the team in runs batted in with 13, followed closely by senior Rosie Minter with 11 and senior Cristin Ware with nine. In the circle, the Lady Tornado also show great balance between sophomore Reagan Hartman and freshman Bryleigh Heal. Hartman who a 3-1 record on the season with 29 innings pitched, 26 strikeouts and a 2.66 ERA. Heal has a 4-0 record on the season with 28 innings pitched, 14 strikeouts and a 1.25 ERA.

Up next for the Lady Tornado are games against Graves County on April 12 at home Webster County on April 14 at home before play for the 2A State Tournament begins on Friday April 15 against Union County at Webster County.
