Our speech and debate team here at PT will be competing in the Kentucky High School Speech League state tournament this week.. All seven of the members have qualified to compete at the tournament.

The tournament is March 10, in Highland Heights. Northern Kentucky University is hosting the tournament this year.

Recently, the competitors competed in the regional tournament at Murray Middle School. Leyton Morris (9) placed runner-up in program oral interpretation, CoryOn Brooks (10) placed runner-up in poetry, Leyton Morris and Bailey Beyer (9) placed first in improvisational duo, Kadie Raber (12) placed runner-up in oratory, and Bailey Beyer placed runner-up in prose.

Although these students were the only ones to place, Christian Anderson (9, oratory), Lucy LeBuhn and Ava Russell (9, duo interpretation) and CoryOn Brooks (broadcasting and impromptu) were still eligible to compete at the state tournament.

The PTHS speech and debate team is coached by physics teacher, Mrs. Holly Barrow, and assistant coached by senior English teacher, Ms. Kelly Cunningham.

If you see any members of the Speech Team wish them good luck as they will leave after school Thursday to travel to Northern Kentucky.
