Junior Meghan Gruber and sophomore Maddie Duwe were regional runners-up last season, and Gruber spoke on how she hopes for them to improve this season. “I think last year we were kind of thrown together at the last minute and didn’t get time to enjoy being a doubles pair, so this summer and so far this season we have just been working and communicating on the court, not just playing together,” she said.

Duwe agreed and said that she wants to see them go far this season and improve their game together, and ultimately win regionals.

Other players feel the same way about hoping to see improvement this season. Freshman Leyton Morris said he looks forward to hopefully playing singles at regionals and learning how to overcome his obstacles on the court as an individual.

The season will continue until regionals in May, with the state competition to follow in late May or early June. With the team’s eagerness to win, here’s hoping they are able to continue to dominate this season and serve up lots of victories.
