Senioritis Sets in

Well, it’s that time of year again. With less than two months until graduation, the seniors are ready to be done with high school. It has become harder to pay attention in class… especially when it is more fun to buy dorm accessories online.

At PTHS, senioritis exponentially increases daily.

Jada Knox (12) thinks “a lot of people have senioritis because it’s getting close to the end of the year. We’re finna graduate, and everyone already got into the college they want to go to. And spring break is literally in two weeks. I feel like we’re just done.”

Underclassmen may be shocked by how prevalent senioritis is. However, they must remember the beginning of the class of 2023’s high school experience was interrupted by the pandemic. The seniors survived that time, along with the struggle of junior year. They’ve applied for numerous summer programs, colleges, and scholarships while balancing schoolwork, jobs, and extracurriculars. Consequently, the seniors are completely exhausted and burnt out. They just want to enjoy the last few months of being with friends before going their separate ways to experience new adventures.

So, to the underclassmen, you may think the seniors are crazy now, but just wait. Senioritis is a rite of passage, and you will experience it someday, too. So just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride of coasting until graduation.
