PTHS Cross Country Takes Regional Title for the First Time in 19 Years

Paducah Tilghman’s football team isn’t the only team here making a statement recently. While their 9-0 record is very impressive, the PTHS cross country team said it’s their time to shine. Paducah Tilghman students, Liam Black (Senior), Corbin Williams (Senior), Aiden Forthman (Sophomore), Jude Williams (Sophomore), and Jude Crawford (Freshman) took home the 2A Regional Title in Owensboro on Saturday, October 21st, for the first time in 19 years.

Many aspects were different about regionals this year for our cross country team, contributing to their big win. When speaking with sophomore, Aiden Forthman, he stated that “Past years we were competing just to qualify for state, this year we competed to win.” Forthman also stated that he is not surprised the team won regionals this year, “Everyone showed up to practice, had fun, and put in the work together.” He explained for him personally, instead of worrying about his personal time, he just wanted to pass the person in front of him.

These boys who were considered the “underdogs” will be on the road to Lexington this weekend for the State Championship. To prepare, Forthman says, “We have just been giving our bodies a break.” His expectations for state are to win or place top three. These new haircuts definitely have the cross country boys pumped up for state. Wish them luck!
