Now more than ever it is important to be kind and compassionate toward others in our community, whether it is getting involved in the community kitchen, a mission trip, or educating others to help them learn and grow.  This month’s Young Woman of PT, Jasmines Meadows, has always shown great leadership in these areas. Meadows has been involved in Interact, Youth Lead, National Honor Society and Beta Club, and has been president of the African American Leadership Club for the past two years. Meadows has attended various leadership camps and has received awards in leadership as well. Meadows excels in leadership because she gets things done while allowing others to have their moments to shine.

Meadows has always had a huge passion for helping others and spending time with children.  All the extra-curriculars she has been involved in while at Tilghman involve serving the community or helping others. When asked how her passion came about Meadows said, “Ever since I was little, I have been mature and wanted to take care of everyone.” She has been working at a local daycare since freshman year. While working there she has learned a tremendous amount about child development and how to interact professionally with adults and children.

Education is also extremely important to Meadows as she holds high standards for herself. She is a skilled writer and has always done well in her English and literature classes. She was recognized for her writing when she won third place in a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. essay contest.

Meadows is a senior and has truly left an imprint here at Tilghman, leaving an impact on many with her kindness and intelligence. She exemplifies a compassionate, motivated and diligent student and leader.

Meadows leaves this message for other young women looking to get more involved in their community, “A good leader is not always the loudest person, but the person who gives others a voice. Also never give up, if you want something and you work hard you can reach your goals.”
