Men’s Mental Health
One of the biggest stigmas in this world… men’s mental health. November is men’s mental health awareness month. As a man speaking about this, some of the things I go through mentally, hurts me as much as it does physically. To the point where I even contemplate living. People who say mental health isn’t real really educated on it. Around 70-80% of men die from suicide every year. 40-50 thousand men die every year from suicide.
The reason why men suffer mentally and are amongst most suicides in the U.S is because men are told to “man up” or to “deal with your problems”. Men are “supposed to be the toughest people”. However, men have feelings too. Majority of men feel like they can’t say what’s on their mind. As a man who is going through the struggles of mental health, it’s okay to not be okay. Its okay to struggle but suicide is never the answer. Suicide is a permanent fix to temporary problems. You aren’t alone in your battle. It isn’t embarrassing to feel this way. Men have insecurities, men deserve help, men feel things, men need love and care. Normalize depression, anxiety, BPD, eating disorders for men. Men have feelings too!
