Shrewsbury Township, PA – A Baltimore man has been arrested in connection with the theft of an ATM from a York County bank that occurred in 2024. Authorities say the theft involved multiple suspects and a stolen truck, skid loader, and trailers, resulting in significant financial losses for the bank.
Incident Overview
James Edward Jackson, 32, of Baltimore, was arrested Friday and charged with four felony counts of theft and felony criminal trespassing in connection with the ATM theft from the Truist Bank on the 16000 block of Susquehanna Trail South in Shrewsbury Township.
The theft occurred between 11:30 p.m. Nov. 5 and 1:43 a.m. Nov. 6, 2024, when investigators say the suspects used a stolen white Ford F-450 truck to remove the bank’s ATM.
“The damaged ATM, along with the truck, skid loader, and trailers, were recovered at a construction site in Baltimore the following day,” police confirmed.
The ATM was found with cash boxes emptied, resulting in an estimated loss of over $120,000. Damage to the bank, including replacing the ATM, was estimated at over $100,000.
Other Suspects and Legal Proceedings
Jackson was allegedly part of a three-person group involved in the ATM theft as well as the theft of a skid loader, F-450 pickup truck, and two trailers from a nearby location on Onion Boulevard.
- Stephen Christopher Butler, 35, of District Heights, Maryland, pleaded guilty to one count of felony theft on Dec. 17, 2025. He was sentenced to 1–2 years in prison, followed by five years probation, and ordered to pay restitution to the bank and the skid loader’s owner. Other charges against him were dismissed.
- Demetri Stoutamire, 32, of Capitol Heights, Maryland, is still awaiting trial on felony theft and criminal mischief charges. No trial date has been set; he was arrested May 21, 2025, and released on a $500,000 bond.
