Wayne County, IN – Three people were pronounced dead after a house fire tore through a home in Cambridge City early Saturday morning, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

First responders arrived to find the residence fully involved in flames, officials said. After the fire was brought under control, three individuals were located inside the home. Investigators are now working to confirm the victims’ identities, determine their causes of death, and establish how the fire started.

Wayne County Coroner Dillon Pitcher described the incident as a devastating loss and asked the public to avoid speculation while the investigation continues.

“This is a devastating loss, and our thoughts are with the loved ones who are now facing the unimaginable,” Pitcher wrote. “We ask our community to wrap this family in prayer, compassion, and support, and to please allow them the privacy they deserve during this incredibly difficult time. Wayne County Sheriff Randy Retter also expressed condolences and emphasized the commitment to finding answers.
