Many people argue about which year of high school is the most difficult or stressful but to me there are only two years in the running, Junior year and Senior year. All other years of high school are stressful in their own ways, but Senior year and Junior year are on another level of stress.
Freshman year is you getting adjusted to the new building and no longer being the oldest kids in the building. Most freshman come in at 14 (or if you’re like me 13) and are seeing students in the halls that are 18 or sometimes older. the classes start to get a bit harder than they were in middle school. There are so many different classes to take, and you are in charge of what classes you want rather than just randomly assigned.
Sophomore year is smooth sailing. You know the school better and know where things are, students usually have a good idea of how to balance classes, extra clubs, and free time. You know the polices the school has and how they are reinforced. The teachers now know you and you know them. There is a bit of pressure to figure out what they want to do for college, and to start building your resume by getting involved within the school in games, clubs, and sports.
Junior year is when the true stress begins. Students are all preparing to take the act and if you want to take it more than once you’re trying to fit it into your schedule while also finding the time to do your homework. Students usually start to drive and get jobs at this point so that just another added thing to balance into the schedule this is when the real pressure to figure out what you want to do after high school begins. You are now the upperclassman and by the end of the year it sinks in you only have one more year of high school then you’re out in the real world. You have to start making sure you have all the required classes taken and passed so next year can be a bit easier.
Senior year, your finally in your last year at high school and you are ready to be done with it. You either have ap classes to worry about or the KYOTE to pass and both are very important to you passing senior year. Your ordering graduation caps and gowns, senior items, and senior pictures. Senior pictures are difficult because all the best companies are usually booked at the end of junior year or only have a few spots available, and while you are trying to figure out all this you are still balancing schoolwork, clubs, and still trying to find free time to breathe. Of course, on top of all that there are college applications, fees, and decisions. the costs of senior year add up fast sports games, senior pictures, yearbooks, etc.
But which year is truly the most stressful? Freshman year isn’t in the running; sophomore year can get a little stressful, but nothing compared to junior and senior year. So really which is it? Senior year or junior year? Leave a comment below to share your thoughts!
