Corbin Man Arrested in Laurel County after Allegedly Choking Woman and Fleeing Authorities

Laurel County, KY – A Corbin man was arrested on January 1 after allegedly choking a female victim and fleeing from authorities in Laurel County, Kentucky, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

Incident Details

Deputies were dispatched to a domestic complaint on Lynnwood Road, approximately 11 miles south of London, when they learned that Kentucky State Police (KSP) and Corbin city police had already arrived at the scene. Authorities reported that the suspect had fled before law enforcement could take him into custody.

After an area search, deputies located the suspect hiding at a house off American Greeting Card Road.

Suspect Identified and Charges

The suspect was identified as James Vincent Felts, 38, of Corbin, Kentucky. Following the investigation, deputies determined that Felts had choked a female victim, prompting multiple criminal charges.

He has been charged with:

  • Assault – 4th degree
  • Strangulation – 2nd degree
  • Fleeing or evading police – 3rd degree

Felts is currently being held at the Laurel County Correctional Center.
